IP Authentication Header

• RFC 2402

• Uses IPv4 PID/IPv6 Next Header = 51

• AH data follows mandatory IPv4/IPv6 header and precedes higher layer (e.g., TCP, UDP) information

• Includes:

  • Anti-replay mechanism (sequence numbers)
  • Authentication using HMAC with MD5 (RFC 2403) or HMAC with SHA-1 (RFC 2404)
